Ephesians 5:21-28 New Living Translation

Spirit-Guided Relationships: Wives and Husbands

21 And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22 For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. 24 As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.

25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.

Prayer

Set us free, O God, from the bondage of our sins, and give us the liberty of that abundant life which you have made known to us in your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Black History Month Spotlight

The Crispus Attucks Tigers

The First All‑Black Team to Win a State Basketball Championship in the United States

In the 1950s, the students of Crispus Attucks High School rose above segregation with excellence and unity. Under Coach Ray Crowe, the Tigers became a powerhouse, playing with discipline and purpose.

In 1955, Attucks made history as the first all‑Black high school team in the nation to win a state basketball championship, and the first Indianapolis school to claim the title. They repeated their victory in 1956, led by standout players like Oscar Robertson.

Their success became a form of “polite protest” showing that dignity, perseverance, and talent could break barriers and uplift an entire community. As we honor Black History Month, we celebrate the Tigers’ legacy of resilience, pride, and hope.

Announcements

Zumba w/ Suzanne: Is TONIGHT and every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. (1-hour sessions). Get ready to move, laugh, and sweat in the best way!

Fat Tuesday & Ash Wednesday: As you enjoy the joy and good food of Fat Tuesday, we also look ahead to tomorrow—Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the season of Lent.

Ash Wednesday invites us into a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal. Christians around the world receive ashes as a reminder of our humanity and our need for God’s grace: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” It’s a day that calls us to slow down, turn our hearts toward God, and make space for the Spirit to work in us.

As we enter this sacred season, consider choosing something to give up—or to set aside—that creates noise, distraction, or clutter in your life. Let this simple act open room for more of God’s presence, peace, and guidance in the days ahead.

May this Lent draw us closer to Christ and to one another.

Please note: We will not hold an Ash Wednesday service tomorrow. Instead, we will gather as usual for our regular Wednesday night dinner and Bible Study.
