Psalm 34:1-8 New King James Version

The Happiness of Those Who Trust in God

A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.

1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Prayer

Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ’s glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

 Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today, we pause to remember and give thanks for the life and witness of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His ministry called a nation to confront injustice, to imagine a more beloved community, and to trust that love—active, courageous, sacrificial love—can transform the world.

Dr. King reminded us that faith is never passive. It moves our feet toward our neighbors. It strengthens our resolve to seek justice. It teaches us to hope even when the night feels long. His words and his witness continue to challenge the Church to live out the gospel with integrity, compassion, and boldness.

As we honor his legacy, may we recommit ourselves to the work he championed:

to walk humbly,

to love mercy,

to do justice,

and to believe that God is still shaping a future where all of God’s children flourish.

Bread & Word Ministry — Volunteers & Pantry Support Needed

We continue serving our neighbors with food, clothing, dignity, and community during our bi‑monthly Thursday gatherings, and we’re looking for volunteers to help prepare, serve, or offer hospitality. No experience needed—just a willing heart. See Carol for food pantry details and Madelyn for the clothing center.

We also need help on the 4th Tuesday morning each month as we receive and organize food inventory. See Troy for more information.
