 Weekly Devotional

“The Power of a Faith That Walks Home”

Jesus returns to Cana, the place where He once turned water into wine, reminding us that He specializes in transforming hopeless situations. From nearby Capernaum, a government official comes to Him in crisis, his son gravely ill and beyond the reach of status or influence.

His desperate pleading reveals what many of us know too well: crisis faith, the kind that rises when we have nowhere else to turn. Jesus responds not with a rebuke but with a gentle diagnosis of the human tendency to believe only when we see results. Still, the man takes a small step forward, calling Jesus “Lord,” even though he still assumes Jesus must travel with him for the miracle to occur. Instead, Jesus simply speaks a word: “Your son will live.” And the man does the hardest thing he will do all day, he believes, and he starts walking. That long journey home becomes a battle between fear and faith, yet every step is an act of trust. Before he even reaches his house, the miracle meets him on the road; his servants announce that his son recovered at the exact moment Jesus spoke. Crisis faith becomes confirmed faith, and confirmed faith becomes contagious faith, spreading to his entire household. One man’s crisis becomes a family’s redemption. As we move through our own uncertain places, this story invites us to keep walking, keep trusting, and keep moving in the direction God sends us, because sometimes the blessing isn’t waiting at the destination, it meets us on the way.

Weekly Prayer

Gracious God, Thank You for meeting us in every season of our faith, in our confidence and in our crisis, in our strength and in our trembling steps. Like the father in Cana, we come to You with the things we cannot fix, the burdens we cannot carry, and the fears we cannot outrun. Speak Your word over us today, Lord. Strengthen our hearts to trust what You say, even when we cannot yet see what You are doing. As we walk the roads set before us this week, let every step become an act of faith, every mile a reminder that You are already working on our behalf. And when Your grace meets us in motion, when Your mercy finds us on the way, let our faith be confirmed and our lives become a testimony that draws others to You. Make our homes, our families, and our community places where redemption takes root and hope takes hold. We trust You, we follow You, and we thank You for walking with us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Church Anniversary: On Sunday, June 14th, we will celebrate our church’s 124th Anniversary! Our theme this year is “What 124 Years of Commitment Looks Like.”

This is a special moment to honor God’s faithfulness, remember our history, and recommit ourselves to the work ahead. We invite everyone to join us for this joyful celebration — and please invite a friend, neighbor, or family member to worship with us and share in the blessing.

Refreshments will be served immediately following the service. Come ready to celebrate, fellowship, and give God praise for 124 years of grace, growth, and commitment.

Visiting Noah’s Ark & the Creation Museum: On the weekend of September 11–13, we are going on a church trip to Kentucky to visit the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. We’ll leave on Friday evening, spend Saturday exploring both attractions, and return either Saturday night or early Sunday morning in time for worship. If you’d like to be part of this meaningful and memorable weekend, please let Pam M. or Tammy O. know. A sign‑up sheet is also available at the registration desk.

Leadership & Organizational Structure

As God continues to bless our congregation with many new faces, we felt it would be helpful to share a clear overview of our church’s governance structure. This serves not only to inform those who are new to our fellowship, but also to remind our long‑term parishioners of how our leadership is organized. If you have any questions, please see Pastor Eddie. The following is our leadership and organizational structure:

Tuxedo Park Baptist Church

1. Pastoral Leadership

The Pastor serves as the chief executive leader of Tuxedo Park Baptist Church. The Pastor oversees daily operations, provides spiritual leadership, supervises ministry activities, and ensures that the mission of the church is carried out with excellence and integrity.

2. Board of Directors

The Pastor is accountable to an elected Board of Directors consisting of four members, each serving a four‑year term. The Board functions as a representative body on behalf of the congregation.

Responsibilities of the Board

  • Setting the vision of the church in partnership with the Pastor
  • Approving annual budgets
  • Providing accountability and support to the Pastor
  • Meeting quarterly with the Pastor to review ministry progress and organizational health

 The congregation votes to approve the final yearly fiscal budget.

3. Financial Leadership

The Treasurer/Comptroller, Vernon Ramsey, works closely with the Pastor to develop the annual budget, monitor financial activity, and ensure transparency and accuracy in all financial matters, supporting responsible stewardship of the church’s resources.

4. Lay Leadership & Ministry Teams

The strength and vitality of Tuxedo Park Baptist Church are rooted in its committed lay leadership. Ministry teams provide hands‑on leadership in key areas of congregational life and support the overall mission of the church.
