Youth Bible Study meets the Xbox. In an effort to engage more youth in Biblical teachings, we developed “Game & Word.” During “Game & Word” adolescents and teenagers participant in a twenty-minute bible study, then they engage in gaming tournaments with each other for an hour. Some of these games include: Madden 2018, and NBA 2K18.
The below missions are part of our giving for the American Baptist Churches. A percentage of our income is allocated to these.
America For Christ
American Baptist Home Mission Societies has a vision of a better world. A world transformed by the healing power of the Gospel. A world transformed by passionate American Baptist leaders and disciples who are creating and building ministries that meet human needs. To bring the healing Gospel to our hurting world, we seek new and creative opportunities for cultivating Christian leaders from all walks of life, for equipping disciples who broaden the understanding of what it means to follow Jesus, and for working on behalf of freedom, justice and the biblical ideals of Beloved Community.
World Missions
World Mission provides the Word of God in an audio format (The Treasure) for oral learners living in unreached people groups. We also provide humanitarian aid and clean water solutions, all with the goal of bringing the Gospel to those the Holy Spirit is readying.
One Great Hour of Sharing
One Great Hour of Sharing is an offering that makes the love of Christ real for individuals and communities around the world who suffer the effects of disaster, conflict, or severe economic hardship, and for those who serve them through gifts of money and time. Today, projects are underway in more than 100 countries, including the United States and Canada. In the 1990s, receipts have exceeded $20 million annually. While specific allocations differ in each denomination, all use their One Great Hour of Sharing funds to make possible disaster relief, refugee assistance, development aid and more.
Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering
The roots of RMMO go back to the mid-1930s, when American Baptist congregations received a Communion Fellowship Offering on the first Sunday of each month to support retired ministers, missionaries, their widowed spouses and elderly clergy within their churches. In 1977, American Baptist Churches USA launched the Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering (RMMO) to continue this appreciation of God’s service. The offering supports those who have dedicated their lives to God’s service by providing emergency assistance in times of need and a thank you check at the end of each year.
America Baptist Women
American Baptist Women’s Ministries is a diverse community of American Baptist women and girls serving in ministry in Christ’s name. With local, area, region/state, and national levels of ministry, AB Women’s Ministries creates a community of passionately faithful, mission-minded women and girls engaged in worship, service, and friendship.
Edna Martin Christian Center
The Edna Martin Christian Center was established as the East Side Christian Center in 1941. A community activist, Ms. Edna Martin, began working with children after school in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood. In 1946 the Center became a home mission of the American Baptist Churches, USA. As a result of this affiliation, the services and programs of the center expanded to include social services to strengthen families in the neighborhood.
